CV Show 2024 – VCA: type approval, self-service

Specialists from the Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA) will be raising awareness of the GB Type Approval Scheme, and demonstrating a new digital self-serve portal for submitting type approval applications.
The GB Type Approval Scheme is applicable for manufacturers wishing to place vehicles and components on the market in Great Britain.
Chris McCabe, chief technical and statutory operations officer at the VCA, said: “February 2024 marked the first mandatory implementation date for the GB Type Approval Scheme.
“We are supporting vehicle and component manufacturers in making applications, to ensure they comply with type approval obligations. As a result, applications are ramping up. We encourage manufacturers to engage with us early, to secure their approvals ahead of future deadlines.”
