All-electric mixer launched at NEC

German concrete mixer manufacturer Putzmeister showed an all-electric mixer at the Commercial Vehicle Show.

Built on a Chinese Sany 408P chassis-cab, and featuring a 350 kW/h battery pack from market-leader CATL, the iOntron eMixer is claimed to have sufficient range to operate for eight hours in urban conditions, with power consumed by the drum being “minimal” while weight is said to be comparable to a conventional diesel mixer-truck.

The 8×4 truck has a 315 kW motor, and the 9-cubic-metre drum is powered via electric-hydraulic drive. Its battery state, charging, work mode, mixing, and other functions can all be monitored remotely via telematic link.
