Two contract wins for HVS
Start-up fuel cell truck manufacturer HVS has won two contracts to supply vehicles to UK operators.
Explore, a specialist provider of plant hire and transport services to the construction sector, currently runs a diverse fleet of over 150 tractors and 500 specialist trailers on tasks including heavy-haulage and urban deliveries from seven depots. It will take 30 new tractors from HVS, which is also to provide a service and maintenance plan, driving and refuelling training, and a hydrogen fuelling infrastructure.
The operator runs a dedicated London delivery operation, with loads being transferred onto specialist trucks out of town, and driven into the capital by a trained team of city drivers.
Chris Gatheridge, operations director at Explore, said: “These new HVS units will significantly reduce Explore’s carbon footprint, and this agreement underscores our commitment to advancing green technology within our business.”
HVS is also working to integrate hydrogen vehicles into the fleet at White Logistics.
Trial vehicles will test the operations of HVS’s hydrogen fuel cell trucks on its fleet. A Memorandum of Understanding will enable White Logistics to collaborate with HVS on all aspects of hydrogen electric vehicle technology, hydrogen infrastructure and refuelling equipment and share operational data. White Logistics will be in a position to convert part of its fleet to these zero-emission trucks after the trial period.
The operator has a fleet of more than 150 trucks and trailers, and provides warehouse, storage and logistics solutions to businesses across the UK from its base in Worcestershire.
