Vehicle tracing and recovery specialist AX Track has offered guidance on how to protect against theft of vehicles and cargo.

Vehicle security is a critical concern for businesses that rely on transporting goods, particularly those which depend on light commercial vehicles (LCVs), and which transport an array of cargo by land and sea,” said the company.

“These assets are not only valuable but also integral to the supply chain and operational efficiency. The theft or loss of vehicles and cargo can lead to significant financial losses and operational disruption, not to mention wider disruption to domestic and international supply chains.”

The company advised: “Taking basic measures to prevent theft should be a given, from enabling standard security devices and habits like removing expensive items from vehicles left overnight and parking in appropriately secure locations.

“However, taking things a step further by utilising covert tracking devices designed to be discreetly installed in vehicles and cargo, making them difficult for thieves to detect, can make a huge difference.”

AX Track says its device uses cutting-edge technology which renders it all but undetectable while providing real-time data to trace, locate and recover vehicles and other assets.

“While technology in isolation is extremely useful, ideally it is deployed in tandem with human expertise,” said the firm.

“A key component of AX Track’s effectiveness is its dedicated recovery team. This team consists of seasoned professionals who are members of the Association of British Investigators, bringing over 100 years of combined policing experience.

“This rapid response capability is crucial in minimising losses and deterring future thefts. A proactive approach significantly enhances the chances of recovering stolen vehicles and cargo, with AX Track boasting a 99 per cent recovery rate.”

The agricultural sector has also been increasingly targeted by criminals, the company says, adding strain to an industry already under pressure from economic and legislative challenges.

“Farmers are vulnerable to the theft of machinery, vehicles, and other assets, which can be financially devastating. Offering farmers a reliable means of protecting their investments – with technology and a recovery team – is vital to enable them to make their businesses viable in the long term.”
