Fontaine’s heavy-duty fifth wheel launch
Coupling technology specialist Fontaine is introducing a new heavy duty fifth wheel into the market, the 260HD.
“Tested to 36T imposed load (U) and 260kN D-value and available as either a 2” or 3.5”, our new heavy duty fifth wheel is now ready to roll,” said the company.
“This product can be mounted to our 260MP plate.”
Features of the robust heavy duty fifth wheel coupling include a rotary pivot bearing which allows the semi-trailer to be used off-road. Retrofittable from 3.5″ or 2” and vice versa, it is designed and built in accordance with ECE Reg R55-02.
Fontaine also presented its latest range of fifth wheel coupling products at IAA Hannover last month, including its TechLock system.
“Specifically designed to reduce miscoupling, their patented TechLock system’s jaw height sensor will not allow the fifth wheel to close if the kingpin enters at the incorrect height or position,” said the firm.
