Aspöck adds TPMS to trailer range
Technology provider Aspöck has expanded its range of trailer products to include tyre pressure monitoring to the new EU R141 regulation.
The system offers fleets a cost-effective solution which ought easily to pay for itself over the lifetime of the vehicle, says the company – as well as reducing downtime and late deliveries, and helping to prevent vehicle damage by providing the driver with an instant warning of a deflating tyre.
“Alerting the driver will allow the vehicle to be stopped before the failure is catastrophic, which otherwise often leads to damage to mud wings, spray suppression, airbags and of course the tyre itself,” said Aspöck.
“In addition to the previously mentioned issues, the TPMS also helps avoid late delivery costs and the costs and danger of a roadside tyre repair.”
The system uses sensors mounted inside of the tyre on the back of the valve stem.
“This means that the sensor is less likely to be damaged during tyre fitment and it is less likely to come loose as the wheel heats and cools,” said Aspöck.
Aspöck TPMS also features an Auto Learning feature, explains the company.
“This allows the system to automatically detect if wheels are rotated to new positions on the trailer or if a new sensor is fitted. It will detect these changes and adjust the information transmitted to the truck accordingly.
“This feature means that there are no special maintenance tools required for calibrating the system.
“Finally, the system works with all three Trailer EBS manufacturers systems under the R141 requirements. It is also suitable for retrofit in many cases.”
