Fleetclear makes DVS compliance ‘a piece of PSS’

Fleet solutions provider Fleetclear is running a social media campaign aimed at HGV fleet operators in London, highlighting how easy it is to ensure their fleets are compliant with the new DVS regulations coming into force on 28 October.

Fleetclear was inspired to launch the campaign, which features tongue-in-cheek headlines like ‘Don’t PSS away your profits’ and ‘When it comes to safety, we don’t PSS around’ following a member survey by the Road Haulage Association (RHA) about the forthcoming DVS regulations. The results of the survey showed that 57 per cent of respondents weren’t confident of being able to install compliant equipment in time.

The Fleetclear Progressive Safe System (PSS) is said to offer a simple, fully integrated and stand-alone solution that requires no existing equipment. Enhanced with AI-based camera detection technology, the system comprises both a Blind Spot Information System (BSIS) and a Moving Off Information System (MOIS) for full DVS compliance, says Fleetclear.

MOIS: moving off information system. BSIS: blind spot information system

Chris Waller, chief technical officer at Fleetclear, said: “We have simplified the compliance process for fleet operators, and we have PSS systems ready to install for customers. All operators need to do is call us and book in any vehicles that are 12t plus and 0,1 or 2 star rated. We’ll take care of the rest.”

With the Fleetclear system, an AI control module uses 2 HD cameras for dynamic detection and driver alerts to prevent collisions. One AI camera provides complete coverage down the nearside of the vehicle, whilst avoiding road furniture and stationary traffic.

This works in conjunction with a second front-mounted MOIS camera to detect and alert the driver to the presence of a vulnerable road users within the front blind spot.
