TotalEnergies launches heavy-duty lubricant range

TotalEnergies Lubrifiants has launched the new Rubia EV3R range, a heavy-duty OEM-approved lubricants offering based on high quality regenerated oils.

The move follows the launch of Quartz EV3R, its first range of lubricants for light vehicles based on high end/premium regenerated oils.

“TotalEnergies Lubrifiants translates its eco-responsible policy into concrete action with its new regenerated oils for heavy-duty vehicles,” said the company.

“The new Rubia EV3R range reflects our climate strategy aiming at lowering the CO2 emissions generated by its own operations and helping its clients to decarbonise their own activities.

“Named Rubia EV3R (for Reduce, Reuse and Regenerate), this premium range specifically developed for heavy-duty vehicles is approved by numerous manufacturers and offers the same levels of performance and protection as conventional oils.

“The Rubia EV3R range is available for supply in Europe in 15W-40 and 10W-30 grades with homologations of all leading OEMs equivalent to our conventional lubricants range.”

To help its customers in their decarbonisation efforts, TotalEnergies Lubrifiants says it has developed Rubia EV3R products with circularity in mind: RRBOs (re-refined high end base oils) account for more than 50 per cent of the base oils of these products.

“Customers in the lubricants sector are also faced with the operational challenge of managing their plastic waste,” said the company.

“Today, reducing the environmental footprint of a product’s life cycle means using recycled plastics. This is why these new environmentally friendly lubricants will be packed in five-litre containers made from 50 per cent recycled high-density polyethylene (HDPE), recognisable by their silver colour.”

TotalEnergies recently acquired Tecoil, a Finnish company that specialises in manufacturing high end RRBOs. Tecoil treats used lubricants oils (ULO) with a ‘re-refining’ process said to give them back properties and performance comparable to those of the very best virgin base oils.

Tecoil’s expertise has been combined with that of TotalEnergies Lubrifiants in the manufacture and distribution of lubricants to meet growing customer demand for increasingly high-performance, environmentally friendly products, says the firm, adding that the acquisition reinforces TotalEnergies Lubrifiants’ commitment to the circular economy and sustainable lubricant solutions.

Pierre Duhot, senior vice president, lubricants and specialties at TotalEnergies, said: “We are proud to launch the Rubia EV3R range for the Heavy-duty segment. TotalEnergies Lubrifiants is dedicated to driving the transformation towards sustainable transport without compromising on performance.

“This first manufacturer-approved high-performance circular economy lubricants range is a proof of our commitment.”
