Hexagon highlights fleet leaseback and disposal trends

Hexagon Leasing has reported a rise over recent months in the number of customers asking for Sale & Leaseback options coupled with Fleet Disposal assistance.

Founded in 2001, Hexagon Leasing specialises in contract hire, short-term rental, fleet management and disposal of large commercial vehicles. The business has over 2,500+ assets and manages accounts of all sizes, ranging from own account operators through to large multinational 3PL and 4PL logistics providers.

“We have seen an increase in customers looking for the ability to release capital back in their business and fix their own transportation overheads as well as removing a large amount of management and compliance risk associated with operating commercial vehicles,” said Michael Webb, head of national accounts at Hexagon.

“We have seen the costs and complexity in operating large commercial vehicles increase significantly over the past months, with maintenance, labour and parts costs from the OEMs increasing, so the ability to transfer or efficiently dispose of an owned vehicle from a client’s balance sheet into a leased vehicle is an attractive option to many at the moment.”

He added: “Fleet Disposal is also a large part of our business operations. A constantly growing fleet coupled with new technology and legislation requirements means a fleet needs to be disposed of efficiently and cost-effectively once the vehicles have completed their life cycle. We offer support to our customers in disposing of their fleet and then allowing latest technology and significantly more fuel-efficient vehicles to be integrated into their business.”

Hexagon highlights the potential of this service to ease the transition to contract hire and leasing for its customers. The firm adds that its skilled and experienced team can find buyers for clients’ vehicles faster and more efficiently than in-house solutions, allowing customers to focus upon their core business activities.

Michael continued: “We want our clients to see us as an integral part of their business and a valued partner in their success, and this includes providing additional support in the times when it’s needed.

“The other key factor that we do look at is the taking over and managing of client workshops. Like Sales & Leaseback, this releases the burden of operating and running a workshop facility for a solus fleet requirement, with Hexagon being able to exercise its multi-marque relationships and cost savings to support our clients.”
