Icebox freezes costs with Podfather delivery tracking
Icebox, an ice delivery company, has rolled out a system combining vehicle tracking, logistics planning, route optimisation, and electronic proof of delivery (POD). The system from Podfather has allowed Icebox to improve delivery times, increase driver efficiency, and reduce back-office administration.
Delivering premium-quality ice, including consumable ice products, ice sculptures, and ice experiences across the UK and Europe, Icebox operates a mixed fleet ranging from small vans to large refrigerated trucks, making between 60 and 100 deliveries a day.
Prior to Podfather, Icebox relied on paper manifests, phone calls, and spreadsheets to allocate and track deliveries. The process, which took several hours a day, required back-office staff to manually organise routes, update job statuses, and handle driver communications.
The new system has enabled Icebox to improve efficiency, offset fuel and wage increases, minimise paper use, and reduce fuel consumption, says Podfather. Additionally, the capture and storage of digital records help Icebox comply with regulatory requirements.
