Truck maker Iveco’s electric vehicle portfolio includes the Iveco S-eWay Rigid, which it says was built with versatility in mind and designed to thrive in busy environments where manoeuvrability is essential.

The Iveco S-eWay Rigid provides a powerful zero-emission performance for a host of missions, says the manufacturer.

“With nine wheelbases in a 4×2 configuration, multiple cab types, rear or full air suspension, ePTO flexibility, and multiple battery configurations, it aims to give operators an electric solution without compromise,” it said.

“The modular battery system, a concept battle-proven in Iveco’s eDaily eLCV, means operators have a huge level of flexibility. Battery options ranging from 280kWh up to the headline 7-battery 490kWh layout, which provides a range of up to 400km on a single charge.

“Moreover, the location of the modules within the chassis is flexible, enabling bodybuilders a versatile platform that can cater to any mission. This enables the installation of everything from stabiliser legs to side-access stairs for the body.

“Further innovation is found in the FPT eAxle that delivers power without encroaching on cargo volumes or payload capacity. The Iveco S-eWay is available with a technical GVW of 19-29t.”

As important as its performance is its charging capabilities, says Iveco. The S-eWay Rigid offers DC charging up to 350kW, which is said to charge from 20 to 80 per cent in 45 minutes, offering 200km of range. On a longer scheduled break, a slower charge can be chosen. Iveco Certified Charging Solutions also offers tailor-made solutions to operators for charging point installation and maintenance in depots.

Operators can choose between Low Voltage (LV), High Voltage (HV), or HV Mech ePTO for their vehicle. LV ePTO is used for less demanding equipment such as tail lifts, whereas HV ePTO can offer 20kW of continuous power – ideal for refrigerator bodies.

Both options will run from the vehicle’s main batteries, says the manufacturer, meaning there is no need for additional cells or generators. For even more specialised equipment, a HV Mech ePTO can provide 60kW continuously, with peak power of up to 100kW to drive hydraulic pumps, for applications such as tippers, skiploaders, cranes, and more.

Business line director full range at Iveco UK & Ireland, Mike Cutts, added: “We understand that there is no one-size-fits-all solution to an operator’s needs, which is why the Iveco S-eWay offers maximum versatility in both design and function.”
