Dr Air Brake drives up trailer safety with Easy-Doc
Doctor Air Brake Ltd has introduced Easy-Doc, its next-generation autobraking system specifically designed for HGV trailers with EBS or ABS.
“Built on the proven technology of our Reverse Smart Autobraking System, Easy-Doc brings cutting-edge safety to truck and trailer combinations, ensuring seamless protection and damage prevention,” said Doctor Air Brake.
“This innovative system integrates effortlessly with Haldex, Wabco and Knorr-Bremse braking systems, making it the ideal plug-and-play safety solution for fleet operators managing a mix of rigid vehicles and articulated trailers.
“Any tractor unit can be coupled to a trailer fitted with Easy-Doc, allowing the driver to benefit from autobraking assistance during reversing.”
Utilising a 77GHz radar sensor, Easy-Doc detects obstacles up to 51 meters behind the vehicle, covering the full width of the trailer.
As the driver reverses, LED stalks mounted at the rear of the trailer flash progressively, turning solid when an object or person is detected within the danger zone.
If no driver intervention occurs, the system automatically applies the trailer brakes for three seconds, preventing collisions and reducing the risk of serious accidents.
After the braking phase, the system disengages smoothly, allowing controlled reversing towards a loading dock while ensuring zero impact damage.
Highlighted benefits include reduced risk to workers and pedestrians thanks to the prevention of incidents in depots, worksites and public areas. The systems also helps to prevent trailers from needing to undergo costly collision-related repairs, and reduces impact on warehouse bays, loading docks and yard infrastructure. No in-cab modifications are required.
