Steering and tyre inflation tech from Jost
Trailer technology provider Jost offers the Tridec EF-S electronic steering systems range as part of its portfolio. This includes the EF-S + version, which offers the possibility to control additional hydraulic and electronic functions with one programmable Tridec remote control.
“The system can be expanded with up to six hydraulic or 12 electronic functions, as well as a combination of these,” said Jost.
“These extra functions can be used for operating ramps, an adjustable gooseneck, movable support legs, vehicle widening, etc.
“It is also possible to equip the system with a so-called soft start mode with which the hydraulic movements run smoothly and the extra functions can be operated extremely accurately. The user has the option of setting the oil flow per function via the remote control.”
Also available is the EF-S light, a weight- and space-saving version.
“The EF-S light weighs about 140 kg less, because it no longer uses its own battery pack; instead the required energy is supplied directly via the truck,” said Jost.
“The system has been further optimised to be very efficient with the available energy and is suitable for trailers with up to two steered axles.”
Combining the above versions is also possible, in the form of the EF-S + light.
Jost also supplies ECE R141 compliant tyre inflation systems for its DCA and DBA series.
The technology is available for all standard offset ET120 axle types: DCA Weightmaster, DCA Megamaster, DCA Pavemaster, DCA Steermaster, DCA Airmaster and DBA.
The tyre inflation systems are said to increase the operational safety of the vehicle, and to promote longer tyre lifespan, reduced rolling resistance and reduced fuel consumption, thereby reducing maintenance costs and enhancing the profitability of the vehicle.
“The easy-to-assemble plug-and-play solution guarantees a fast installation for all common trailer types without further installation efforts on the axle,” said Jost.
“The control system (control box – ECE R141 compliant) and the required connection cable for common electronic brake systems are reliably available from Jost. Control box, cable sets and spare parts can be found via the Jost Part Finder.”
The plug-and-play solution is also compatible with other control systems.
