Logistics UK launches CO2 emissions reporting service

Logistics UK has launched a new service which will provide its members with access to accurate CO2 emissions data.

The service, which the organisation has announced will be available to all members, is called ‘Emissions Reporting for Transport’, and has been designed to support operators’ journeys to net zero and regulatory compliance.

As more businesses begin reporting their indirect Scope 3 carbon emissions, says Logistics UK, suppliers will need to be able to provide this information, and it will often be a requirement of doing business. While many smaller suppliers currently lack the capacity or resources to supply such information, the new service makes it available in an accessible format. Logistics UK has partnered with independent management and technology consulting firm BearingPoint in order to offer the service.

“Our members recognise the long-term benefits of carbon reporting and understand the need to measure CO2 emissions to provide trusted records that their decarbonisation plans are effective,” said Al Richardson, head of membership and affinities at Logistics UK.

“We are excited to partner with BearingPoint to offer this valuable service to our members and with the increasing need for accurate carbon footprint calculations, our members will benefit greatly from the detailed emissions reporting provided by BearingPoint’s technology.”

Richard Walters, senior manager at BearingPoint, commented: “Creating greater transparency is the key to our approach. “You cannot manage what you do not measure, and that is where our leading-edge solution comes in. “We are proud to support Logistics UK in its mission to improve sustainability in the logistics sector.”
