CFS cuts plastic waste with BlueBox

Commercial Fuel Solutions (CFS) offers AdBlue distribution via BlueBox, developed by FuelBox, which is said to offer a smarter, cleaner packaging solution than plastic bottles.

“AdBlue is essential for modern diesel engines, but its typical packaging, the ubiquitous 5- or 10-litre plastic bottle, creates a new kind of pollution: single-use plastic waste,” said CFS.

“The problem is especially acute at busy filling stations. Drivers top up their cars and often leave empty AdBlue containers lying around forecourts as bottles are too big to cram into the bins on site. These discarded canisters are not just unsightly, they’re a disposal headache.

“Forecourt operators are left to clear them away, find storage space, and ultimately pay for disposal. Over time, the operational and environmental cost of dealing with this steady flow of plastic waste adds up significantly.”

It’s not just a waste problem, says CFS.

“Traditional AdBlue containers are clunky, awkward to use, and prone to ‘glugging’, the uneven flow that causes spillage. The result? Unsightly white crusty residue on forecourt surfaces, and frustrated drivers spending longer than they should blocking valuable pump bays.”

BlueBox, however, is said to dramatically reduce plastic waste thanks to its bag-in-box design (much like wine boxes), cutting single-use plastic consumption by up to 90 per cent.

“It’s fully recyclable, compact, and takes up far less space when stacked, meaning forecourts can handle more units with less storage and far lower disposal costs – no more piles of discarded bottles by the bins,” said CFS.

“BlueBox features a fast-flow, non-glug design that ensures a clean, smooth pour every time. No more spillage, no more sticky puddles, no more residue on the concrete. Drivers can top up quickly and cleanly, and because it’s fast and easy to use, they move on faster, freeing up pump space and reducing congestion and therefore increasing profitability.”
