Suspension solutions from Roadlink International

Components supplier Roadlink International includes a range of parts for suspension systems, including road springs from Weweler and shock absorbers from Al-Ko.

“To the naked eye, most leaf springs look more or less the same,” said Roadlink.

“It is only when you study the materials from which they are made and the production process used in their manufacture, that the difference becomes apparent.

“Weweler leaf springs are redesigned to suit specific vehicle models and specific operational areas. This means that even if another spring looks the same, there is a risk that it will offer poorer comfort, payload, driveability and last but not least: lifetime.”

Benefits of the Weweler range, which are manufactured in ISO certified production facilities in Belgium, are said to include quick installation owing to strict dimensional precision as per OE specifications, thorough surface treatment for immense resistance to corrosion, and high quality silent blocs and accessories.

“The silent blocs ensure more comfort, improved road-holding and guarantee increased service life,” Roadlink continued.

“The use of new alloys in high quality steel, a ‘Free Bending Hardening’ method (FBH), combined with high stress peening, brings Weweler springs to one of the highest levels of endurance.”

Roadlink is an official distributor of Weweler road springs for the CV aftermarket, and holds an extensive stock range together with all the required U-Bolts and fittings at its central distribution centre.

Next-day delivery options are available, and a VOR service if required, while an online easy cross reference tool has 70,000 cross references loaded. Technical assistance is available.

Customers include CV parts distributor CTP.

“At CTP, we stock and promote Weweler springs based on their OE-quality pedigree,  supply reliability, and superior durability under operational loads,” said Ian Cunningham, managing director of CTP, Kilmarnock.

“Since incorporating Weweler products into our offering, we’ve noticed a significant reduction in performance-related issues, reinforcing our confidence in the reliability and engineering standards of the Weweler brand.”

Roadlink also distributes shock absorbers from Spanish manufacturer Al-Ko, part of the German Al-Ko Kober Group.

The manufacturer produces more than 3,500 units per day, says Roadlink, and uses the same manufacturing processes, standards and rules for the aftermarket as for its growing number of original equipment business partners.

“Al-Ko is quality approved and specified by some of the most demanding world-class OEMs such as Schmitz, Weweler, SAF-Holland, Iveco, Renault etc which demonstrates why Al-Ko is a European leader in the field of suspension,” it said.

“With accreditations such as ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO TS16949, strict process controls and full traceability down to component level, they provide a solution that can be trusted for OE and aftermarket replacement alike.

“50 per cent of Europe’s air suspended trailer axles now have Al-Ko shock absorbers fitted as original equipment.

“Instantly recognisable the world over by the uniquely shaped, weight saving and durable plastic outer dust cover, Al-Ko shock absorbers have some key features including: very sturdy and virtually unbreakable construction and a special sealing system which minimises the chance of oil leaks, and therefore greatly extends service life of the shock absorber.”

The pistons include PTFE piston rings which help maintain the thermo stability of the oil, adds Roadlink, while valves eliminate noise caused by the internal passage of the oil through the shock absorber.

“A unique Al-ko high performance shock absorber oil is the result of long term laboratory testing which copes with great changes in temperature and density.

“The quality is proven by Roadlink being able to offer customers in the UK and Ireland a three-year warranty for Al-Ko shock absorbers.”
