Compliant load securing with BPW CargoMaster
Among the compliance solutions available from BPW Limited is the CargoMaster load securing strap lift system, which is said to minimise the risk of damage to goods and help operators adhere to DVSA load securing guidelines.
“The DVSA emphasises that loads must be properly secured, as this is vital for road safety,” said BPW.
“A load that is not correctly secured can shift during transit, increasing the risk of trailer instability, dangerous collisions, and road closures.”
Suitable for both uniform and irregular loads, the BPW CargoMaster system uses conventional straps and mesh or PVC sheets, which are smoothly pulled into position over a load.
“Unlike other strap designs, the wider sheets distribute tension over a larger area, reducing the risk of damage or shifting of vulnerable loads. Bespoke designs are available to suit individual operations and customer requirements.
“Easy to operate and cost-effective to maintain, a guided roller-bearing carriage runs the full length of the trailer roof and fits tightly to the top of the trailer, maximising haulage capacity.
“Robust bungee cords, suspended from the roof, are attached to both side raves with a rave hook and tensioned using a manual ratchet.
“Intelligent swivel and clamping technology enable the straps and sheets to automatically lift back into the roof space when not in use, where they are kept clean and ready for operation.”
Thanks to this design, the driver no longer needs to climb onto the trailer and throw the straps over the load to secure it, says BPW.
“Not only does this enhance workplace safety by reducing the risk of injuries, but it also streamlines both the loading and unloading processes, saving valuable time.
“The BPW CargoMaster, which can be retrofitted, is suitable for single curtainsider trailers and rigid bodies, and it also effectively secures and restrains loads on both levels of a double-deck trailer. It is highly regarded for its performance, safety features, and adaptability on the road.”
