Rymec puts CSCs in the spotlight
Rymec offers a comprehensive range of Concentric Slave Cylinders (CSCs) that covers 95 per cent of the European vehicle parc.
Manufactured to matching Original Equipment (OE) specifications, every CSC in the range is 100 per cent new and available either individually or as part of a three-piece clutch kit, all assembled in Rymec’s UK facility.
“A CSC is a hydraulic cylinder with an integrated release bearing, designed to deliver smooth clutch operation during gear changes,” explained the company.
“Like many heavy-duty automotive components, CSCs are subject to wear – and crucially, they cannot be repaired and must be replaced when worn or during clutch or transmission removal.”
For best practice installation, the company advised: “Always replace the CSC when fitting a new clutch or removing the transmission.
“Never manually compress the piston – doing so can damage the internal seals and dislodge the backplate.
“Use only the correct hydraulic fluid – mineral oil or transmission fluid can cause internal seals to swell, leading to premature failure.”
Rymec emphasises the quality and reliability of its range, and its extensive testing programme: every Rymec CSC undergoes 1 million actuations between -30°C to +120°C, followed by 17 rigorous tests, including high and low-pressure air leakage, pressure holding, and dust resistance during rotation.
“We map and replicate the OE performance characteristics to ensure seamless compatibility and reliability,” it said.
“In addition to our hydraulic CSCs, Rymec also offers pneumatic CSCs, designed for automated manual transmissions. These air-operated units replace traditional clutch linkages, delivering enhanced efficiency and precision in clutch actuation.”
Every Rymec CSC unit is backed by a comprehensive three-year ‘no quibble’ warranty.
