Tachosys rolls out vtach solution

Hardware specialist Tachosys has launched vtach, a new ‘tachograph-style’ product geared towards light or other vehicles that fall outside the scope of tachograph requirements, designed to help simplify fleet management.

“This new device offers a tachograph-style solution for vehicles that do not legally require one. Installed in the cab or on the dashboard, vtach records driving and rest times using a USB key (think driver card) as each driver’s unique identifier. With built-in GNSS location tracking and speed data, it provides fleet managers with all the data they need to keep drivers safe and on track.”

According to Tachosys, operators have been asking for a solution like this.

“They want every driver treated the same, regardless of the vehicle they’re in,” explained the company.

“With vtach this becomes possible and at a third of the cost of fitting a tachograph where it isn’t required.”

The vtach functions much like a tachograph, says Tachosys, but looks and feels smarter.

“With its large, clear display and intuitive interface, drivers are able to understand and navigate with ease. It automatically records driving time, switches to ‘other work’ and allows drivers to select POA or rest as needed.”

For in-scope vehicles fitted with tachographs, Tachosys continues to provide solutions through its digiDL-H and digiDL-HX products.

The DL-H allows secure, automatic remote download of tachograph files and sends the real-time driver decision support data directly to analysis providers. The DL-HX builds on this by combining remote download with telematics, providing GNSS tracking and FMS data from the vehicle’s CANbus to transport managers for a greater overview of fleet operations.
