GYS helps beat 24V battery imbalance

Battery charging technology manufacturer GYS has launched a new solution to tackle truck battery imbalance.

24V battery systems, commonly used in large commercial vehicles, have long struggled with imbalance between the two 12V batteries that make up the system, the firm explains.

“Over time, this imbalance leads to poor performance, premature battery failure, and the need for costly replacements, often before the batteries have reached the end of their natural life. The result? Unnecessary expense and unexpected vehicle downtime, both of which hit fleet operators hard.”

GYS’s new 24V Battery Balancing System uses high-performance 100A units that charge each battery at a different rate, bringing both to a balanced state within just 2-3 hours.

“The system fits easily into regular vehicle maintenance routines,” said GYS.

“But it’s not just about speed. This advanced system offers full traceability, with downloadable reports showing charging and balancing activity, for workshops that want to demonstrate best practice or keep service records.

“The system supports all major battery chemistries, including lithium, and thanks to its connected technology, users can access software updates and even create custom charging profiles.

“Fleet workshops and commercial vehicle service providers will find this technology not only helps reduce battery replacement costs but also prevents avoidable breakdowns and associated downtime.

“The technology has proved so effective that it is already in use by DAF globally. The GYS Battery Balancing System is a smart, practical addition to any commercial vehicle maintenance routine.”
