bp Fleet Solutions has outlined the advantages of its fuel card offering for commercial fleets, which facilitates both refuelling and electric vehicle charging under one system.

Running an HGV fleet comes with a wide range of challenges, particularly when it comes to fuel,” said Adrian Brabazon, head of bp Fleet Solutions.

“Balancing costs, adapting to unpredictable market conditions, and managing supply chain pressures are just a few of the obstacles fleet managers face every day.

“The bp Fuel & Charge card allows fleet managers to combine both traditional fuel and electric vehicle charging costs into one simple system. Accepted across the extensive Routex network, the card is usable at more than 29,000 sites in 32 European countries.

“For drivers, this means fewer cards to carry, while for fleet managers, it means all their refuelling expenses can be combined into one single, easy-to-read bill.”

Competitive pricing and cost savings are at the heart of bp’s fuel card offer, says Adrian.

“Fleet managers can benefit from consistently competitive rates, and HGV drivers can refuel easily with access to over 3,400 sites across the UK, including more than 500 bunker stations on key motorways and A roads.

“Advanced management tools and driver benefits also help businesses control costs and improve efficiency, giving managers greater oversight and flexibility across their fleets.”

bp continues to expand its range of alternatives to conventional diesel, he adds.

“At selected UK locations, bp bioenergy HVO is available – a renewable, waste-derived paraffinic diesel that meets BS EN 15940 standards while maintaining strong vehicle performance.

“Electrification is also on the rise. With bp pulse, operators now have access to Europe’s first public charging corridor built for medium and heavy-duty electric trucks. Launched in 2023, the project introduced six 300kW ultra-fast charging stations along Germany’s Rhine-Alpine corridor, spanning 600km. This development was a significant step for logistics companies aiming to integrate electric vehicles into their fleets.

“Looking ahead, fuel cards will play an even bigger role, not only making payments easier, but also helping fleet operators manage and respond to the changes transforming transport and energy.”
