Tyre management solutions from Goodyear
Tyre giant Goodyear offers a range of fleet services as part of its portfolio, including the subscription-based Tyres-as-a-Service offering.
Designed to reduce operators’ total cost of ownership and help them save time and money by outsourcing tyre management, the all-inclusive solution can also help increase fleet availability and reduce tyre-related vehicle breakdowns, says Goodyear, thereby enabling more efficient operation.
The company also offers a solution for vehicles with tyre pressure monitoring systems (TPMS).
“With Goodyear TPMS Connect, fleets whose new vehicles are factory-equipped with a TPMS can benefit from Goodyear solutions and applications,” it said.
“Many vehicles are equipped with standard TPMS systems from original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
These systems can typically only transmit alerts to the driver, not to the back office. This can potentially limit the fleet manager’s ability to respond promptly to tyre-related issues.
“Goodyear TPMS Connect addresses this gap by providing a seamless plug-and-play solution for integration with existing telematics TPMS hardware, thus increasing fleet efficiency.”
Meanwhile, Goodyear has unveiled new features for its CheckPoint drive-over tyre inspection solution, including an enhanced technology for tread depth reading that expands its value beyond traditional tyre management.
“The updated system extends the possibilities of both transport operators and service partners in growing their business and improving operational efficiency,” said Goodyear.
“This includes upgraded hardware for tread depth measurement like advanced sensor technology… enhanced optical capabilities and new design with improved performance.”
It also incorporates new features for the Goodyear FleetHub mobile and web app, such as instant tyre status projection on connected workshop screens, ’Live view’ saccess for all vehicles, and a new advanced report with detailed vehicle and tyre condition data for KPI building.
As the industry evolves, says Goodyear, so too must the technologies that keep fleets moving. It highlights Kmax Gen-3, its new generation of mileage focused truck tyres said to deliver the same class‑leading mileage as its predecessors, with improved traction and up to 13 per cent improved rolling resistance, while maintaining durability.
“Designed to reduce total cost of ownership, the tyres can contribute to yearly fuel savings of up to €1236 per vehicle,” said Goodyear.
“Advancements in the tread compound and design significantly lower rolling resistance while still providing the highest mileage and performance in the Kmax range, enabling more fleets to adopt fuel‑efficient tyres without sacrificing traction or durability.”
Also available are Goodyear Eqmax and Eqmax Ultra, which can support sustainability efforts and performance for a wide range of applications.
“The new tread compound contains a higher silica content. As a result, those tyres offer up to 20 per cent better mileage and up to six per cent improved rolling resistance compared to their predecessors,” said Goodyear.
“Depending on the different sizes, they are also made with up to 55 per cent sustainable materials, including ingredients like Rice Husk Ash (RHA)-based silica, and are Electric Drive Ready for high future viability. “
The company added: “As fleets navigate the challenges of efficiency, sustainability and reliability, tyre manufacturers must stand as trusted partners, delivering innovative solutions that drive real-world results.
“Collectively, manufacturers can redefine what’s possible in tyre management for fleets. Notably, for the benefit of all our commercial customers, embracing next-generation tyres and integrated service models mean fleets unlock new levels of performance and cost effectiveness, today and into the future.”
