Tenneco puts braking range in the spotlight

Transport technology provider Tenneco has outlined some of the key features and benefits of its OE braking components.

“In the commercial vehicle industry, reliability is not an option, it is the foundation,” said the company.

“With its Pads for Air Operated Disc Brakes, Tenneco Braking sets a new benchmark, delivering a solution that goes well beyond basic requirements.

“These brake pads are developed with a clear global vision: one product fits all. Developed at our competence center in Glinde, they are designed to meet global technical and regulatory standards through a single solution.

“This approach simplifies the processes, accelerates information flow, reduces complexity and cost, and ensures that resources are deployed where they create the greatest value.”

Standardised materials and manufacturing processes across all production sites, combined with deep market expertise, enable faster alignment with customer requirements and greater efficiency in both product development and manufacturing, says Tenneco.

“This well-established approach supports a ‘local-for-local’ production strategy, ensuring consistent quality, reliable supply, and global cost competitiveness.”

Durability is at the core of the product’s engineering, the company adds.

“These pads deliver dependable performance under the most demanding operating conditions, from long-haul transportation to vocational applications. Their performance characteristics are consistent and repeatable from pad to pad, ensuring predictable braking behavior throughout the entire product lifecycle.

“From a technical perspective, the Air Operated Disc Brake pads feature a copper-free friction material fully aligned with global environmental regulations. They comply with all major international standards, including ECE, FMVSS, CCC and AMECA, providing certified assurance of quality and safety.

“Performance is equally impressive, with high and stable braking torque output of up to 30 kNm, enhanced longevity and outstanding resilience in harsh operating environments.

“This braking solution builds on decades of experience in Air Operated Disc Brake systems and a strong reputation among OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers worldwide. The result is a long-lasting, reliable product that meets, and exceeds, total cost of ownership expectations.

“The message is clear: a single, robust brake pad solution designed for trucks and trailers across global markets. Engineered for today’s operational challenges and ready for tomorrow’s regulatory and sustainability demands, it delivers performance, compliance, and efficiency in one comprehensive global package.”

The company additionally offers a portfolio of commercial vehicle braking components through its aftermarket division, under the Driv brand.

“With strong OE heritage and broad aftermarket coverage, Driv brings together trusted CV brands such as Ferodo, Jurid, Beral and Monroe, offering a coherent, OE-grade solution across the most critical vehicle systems,” said Tenneco.

“For distributors and workshops, this means easier sourcing, consistent quality and solutions designed to perform reliably under real-world operating conditions.

Braking remains one of the most safety-critical systems on any commercial vehicle – and also one of the fastest evolving. Driv continues to expand its copper-free CV brake pad portfolio under Ferodo, Jurid and Beral, combining OE-quality stopping power with reduced environmental impact.

“These copper-free formulations meet the world’s most stringent regulations while delivering excellent durability, controlled wear and low cost per kilometre. Enhanced with high-performance coatings to optimise bedding-in, they help workshops deliver immediate braking confidence from the first kilometres – a clear benefit for fleets focused on safety, compliance and uptime.”

Beyond braking, Driv’s CV offer addresses another key challenge for fleets: protecting expensive components from premature wear.

“Monroe commercial vehicle shocks, steering, suspension and air springs are engineered to do exactly that,” the company said.

“Properly functioning dampers help maintain tyre contact with the road, reduce braking distances, protect air suspensions and improve Driver comfort. The latest Monroe CV developments – including expanded steering and suspension coverage and a new range of robust air springs – are designed using OE-level testing and materials to withstand the toughest operating environments across trucks, buses and trailers.

“For distributors and workshops, this creates opportunities to move from reactive repairs to value-driven, system-based maintenance recommendations.”

For customers, says Tenneco, the strength of the Driv CV portfolio lies in its combination of OE pedigree, aftermarket flexibility and category breadth.

“From braking to ride control, Driv enables partners to support modern commercial vehicles with confidence – helping fleets reduce downtime, extend service life and improve total cost of ownership.”
