GEMCO UK keeps lifting for Croxdale Group
Vehicle dealer and service provider Croxdale Group has opted to install Stenhoj lifting technology from equipment specialist GEMCO UK as part of its latest workshop expansion, continuing a longstanding relationship between the two firms.
From early workshop developments to today’s large-scale, commercial-focused facilities, Croxdale’s approach has remained clear: lifts must be robust, future-proof, and capable of handling a wide variety of vehicles, including heavier commercial applications.
Tony Gilson, GEMCO’s national sales manager, has worked closely with Croxdale Group since 1996. From the rollout of Croxdale’s first Fast Fit Centre in 1997 to multiple workshop developments across the North East, lift selection has always been treated as a critical design decision, with each workshop layout engineered around lifting capability to ensure day-to-day operations are supported.
Croxdale’s latest workshop expansion was designed with a strong emphasis on commercial vehicle readiness, requiring lifts capable of handling long wheelbase (LWB) vans and heavier platforms without compromise.
“At the centre of this new facility are Stenhoj 6-tonne vehicle lifts … selected for their high load capacity, exceptional build quality, and proven performance in intensive aftersales environments,” said GEMCO.
“Designed specifically to accommodate LWB vans and heavier vehicles, the 6T Stenhoj lifts provide the strength, stability, and versatility required for modern mixed-fleet workshops.
“In total, the workshop features 17 Stenhoj lifting bays, forming the operational core of the facility. Their layout has been carefully planned to maximise workflow efficiency, vehicle movement, and technician access, ensuring that lifting operations support productivity rather than restrict it.”
The lifts are complemented by integrated oil and lubrication distribution, air ring main, and exhaust extraction systems.
A further cited advantage of the Stenhoj lift range is its ability to support both current and future vehicle technologies; with increasing electrification across fleets, lift compatibility and structural integrity are critical considerations.
The Durham site now incorporates three dedicated MOT bays capable of testing up to Class 7 vehicles, alongside a wider workshop designed to support high-volume servicing, maintenance, and repair operations.
Anthony Rockingham, managing director at Croxdale Group, said GEMCO’s “steadfast commitment” to the partnership “has played an instrumental role in our collective success”.
