Intangles adds value with predictive maintenance

Predictive maintenance specialist Intangles describes itself as the ‘new kid on the block’ in the UK and Europe – but its technology covers 500,000 vehicles worldwide, and it has formed global marketplace partnerships with Geotab, Castrol and multiple OEMs.

The company can work with any vehicle type, including commercial and passenger fleets, and says its users have seen reductions in breakdowns of up to 75 per cent, improvements in driver behaviour of 20-30 per cent, maintenance cost reductions of up to 10 per cent, and increased asset availability by up to 30 per cent – saving fleets time, cost and carbon.

Intangles’ multi-patented predictive maintenance technology builds a digital twin of how each vehicle is functioning and then monitors those vehicles in real time. If it detects a problem developing it can alert a fleet manager before a warning light appears or a fault code is generated.

This avoids the costly and wasteful problem of breakdowns and unplanned downtime, and may limit the need for expensive preventative maintenance regimes, says Intangles. The system reports fault codes to give a complete picture of a vehicle’s health – what has happened, how it is running, and what is building up – along with recommendations for workshop technicians so that they can address the vehicle as soon as it arrives, saving workshop time and cost.

The system also includes driver behaviour telematics, and the platform can analyse all of the traditional behaviours (harsh braking, harsh acceleration, coasting, etc). It is able to pick up on gear use in both automatic and manual vehicles, giving driver trainers insights about what to focus on and how to best develop their personnel.

With a tachograph-feed integration, Intangles can additionally provide fleets with a driver scorecard that rates their drivers’ behaviour across the board, as well as providing bespoke training recommendations for individuals to improve both the safety and the efficiency of their driving.

Intangles also highlights its patented method of fuel use analysis, which can provide precise measurements of what a vehicle is burning (including reporting on wasteful idling), track emissions and even pick up on fuel theft. This means fleets can keep track of which are the most (and least) fuel-efficient vehicles and identify the best driver/vehicle pairings.

Intangles will be exhibiting at RTX Northern Ireland, the Commercial Vehicle Show, RTX Stoneleigh, Multimodal, and various other shows and conferences throughout the year – and invites visitors to the events to stop by and speak to the team in person.
