Vredestein van tyre range expands with Comtrac 2+
Apollo Tyres Ltd has unveiled the Vredestein Comtrac 2+, a premium summer tyre developed specifically for light commercial vehicles.
Building on the proven success of the Comtrac series, the new model is said to deliver enhanced durability, improved handling and extended range, providing clear operational benefits and superior cost efficiency for business users.
Available across Europe from January 2026, the Vredestein Comtrac 2+ will be offered in 21 sizes, covering 15- to 17-inch rims, with selected dimensions featuring ‘XL’ load ratings for heavy-duty applications.
“The Comtrac 2+ delivers a 13 per cent increase in abrasion resistance over its predecessor thanks to an innovative fourth-generation polymer compound, made possible by advanced mixing technology,” said Apollo Tyres.
“This compound extends tread life and durability, supporting higher mileage, fewer replacements and lower operating costs for fleets. The improved abrasion rate also means less tyre wear and fewer microplastics released, contributing to reduced waste and a more sustainable environmental footprint.
The firm continued: “A strengthened bead area ensures greater stability and handling performance, even under demanding loads and when subject to high temperatures. The robust carcass construction and reinforced sidewall provide greater reliability and reduces the risk of breakdowns, helping commercial operators maximise vehicle uptime.
“To aid grip and traction in wet conditions, the Vredestein Comtrac 2+ features a highly dispersible silica filler and a tread pattern that quickly channels water away from the contact patch. These innovations reduce the risk of aquaplaning and deliver confidence-inspiring control in all driving conditions.
“Designed for maximum longevity, the Comtrac 2+ combines a durable construction with long-lasting materials that minimise downtime and lifetime operating costs.
“With a 7 per cent lower rolling resistance, the new tyre delivers superior fuel efficiency and is especially well-adapted to electric and hybrid commercial vehicles, helping to extend driving range and reduce energy consumption.”
The Comtrac 2+ is also EUDR compliant, Apollo Tyres adds, ensuring adherence to the latest European environmental and sustainability standards.
Yves Pouliquen, vice president, Commercial EMEA, at Apollo Tyres Ltd commented: “Our R&D Team has engineered the tyre to deliver longer tread life, lower rolling resistance and a safer, more comfortable ride that drives greater efficiency – all at an accessible price point.”
