Portable brake testing from Turnkey BrakeSafe
The BrakeSafe is a portable brake testing device manufactured by Turnkey Instruments Ltd, which can be used to measure the braking performance of LGVs, HGVs, PSVs, trailers and cars.
The device can also be used for fleet safety inspections, MOT testing and DVSA compliance evidence, adds Turnkey, and is DVSA approved for MOT use.
BrakeSafe measures mean fully developed deceleration (MFDD), is self‑levelling and automatically aligns with the direction of travel. Key benefits highlighted by the company include a built‑in printer for immediate proof, and use as an accepted alternative to roller brake testers in many fleet applications.
“It’s particularly valuable given the DVSA’s stricter brake testing expectations under the Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness, where operators must demonstrate regular, recorded brake performance assessment,” said Turnkey.
