MJ Freeth fleet expands with UK’s first Mercedes-Benz Arocs Extent

Mercedes-Benz Truck dealer Rygor Auto has delivered the UK’s first special-edition Mercedes-Benz Arocs Extent, built as part of a strictly limited production run of just 100 units for Europe, to longstanding customer MJ Freeth.

MJ Freeth, founded by owner and director Matt Freeth in 2009, operates a specialist fleet focused on subcontracted quarrying and construction logistics. Today, the company runs a tightly managed fleet of Mercedes-Benz tipper trucks, alongside its wider workshop operations servicing quarry and commercial equipment.

The delivery marks a significant addition to the company’s all-Mercedes-Benz Trucks fleet, while also making it the first tipper variant of the limited-edition model to enter service in the UK.

The Arocs Extent enhances the construction-focused Arocs range with bespoke exterior styling, including its matte Weather Grey front grille and LED headlights, additional LED headlights integrated into the sun visor, and custom decals on the sun visor and front-end flap.

Further highlighted features include dark chrome Arocs lettering, carbon-look trim elements and premium stainless steel axle caps and wheel nut covers.

Inside the cab, the Arocs Extent benefits from luxury touches including a leather steering wheel and the latest Multimedia Cockpit Interactive 2 system, bringing enhanced connectivity, intuitive touchscreen controls and integrated navigation to demanding construction operations. Built specifically for heavy-duty applications, the Extent is powered by Mercedes-Benz Trucks’ latest-generation Euro VI diesel engines.

The vehicle will now be entering service within MJ Freeth’s tipper operation, supporting quarrying and construction haulage work across aggregates, crushed materials and demolition recovery.

“The decision to continue investing in Mercedes-Benz Trucks reflects our focus on reliability and uptime,” said Matt Freeth, owner and director of MJ Freeth.

“I started out with a second-hand Mercedes-Benz truck, then added another, and then started to buy new. My confidence in the vehicles just grew from there, and I haven’t looked back since. They’re really well-made with a tough chassis that’s built for the construction industry, and the backup from Rygor has always been excellent too.”

The new Arocs Extent was specified in close collaboration with dealer Rygor Auto, and already incorporated a number of key enhancements aligned with MJ Freeth’s operational requirements, with a prioritisation for features that enhance driver comfort, usability and presentation, alongside durability.

“We always spec our trucks with the driver in mind,” continued Freeth.

“And when the Extent became available, Marcus at Rygor sent me the specification and a lot of the extras we’d normally add were already on the truck, things like comfortable seating, intuitive sat nav, LED lights, and a proper leather steering wheel to hold – it all matters.

“Beyond that, it looks great. If you turn up in a well-presented truck, people trust you before you’ve even started the job, so that’s always been really important to us. When we looked at the Extent as a whole package, it was like they’d basically built a truck specifically for us.”

Marcus Cahalin, sales executive at Rygor Auto, commented: “These vehicles are like laptops on wheels now – highly advanced, fully electrical, but mechanically bulletproof. The Arocs is built for construction work. It’s not a haulage chassis trying to act in the construction game. It is fully built for it.”

He added: “The Arocs Extent is a special truck. Only 100 are being built across Europe, and this is the first one ordered in the UK – and the only tipper Arocs Extent in the country.

“But what matters most for us as a dealer is how we back Matt and his fleet for round-the-clock support when it’s needed. That backup is essential, and we also offer an Extent Plus warranty, a Mercedes-Benz-backed five-year bumper-to-bumper package to give customers – especially those in demanding sectors like MJ Freeth – real peace of mind.”

The Arocs Extent builds upon the Mercedes-Benz Arocs platform, designed specifically for demanding off-road and site-based applications. Cited benefits include highly customisable body configurations, powertrain options and all-wheel drive capability.
