Penfold Verrall expands tipper fleet with Iveco X-Way

Penfold Verrall Ltd has taken delivery of an Iveco X-Way 8×4 tipper (AD360X46Z/P OFF), strengthening its 21-strong fleet of Ivecos.

The Sussex-based earthworks specialist requires highly durable trucks that each transport around 28,000 tonnes of soil each year, covering 80,000 kilometres in the process.

“Powering the X-Way is a robust 460hp xCursor 13 engine paired with a Hi-Tronix 12-speed gearbox, with this combination providing a potent blend of performance and economy,” said Iveco.

“Penfold Verrall specified each tipper in OFF configuration, which maximises approach angles via great ground clearance and boosts durability with a reinforced bumper.”

Working closely with supplier Northern Commercials, the truck is equipped with a Loadmaster Lite tipper body, built and installed by Thompsons UK. It features Edbro CX15 front-end hydraulic unit tipping gear and offers a payload of almost 19 tonnes.

For safety, the truck is fitted with twin-strobe beacons, a four-way camera system, and two reversing work lamps for maximum operational safety on and off-site.

The X-Way is equipped with Iveco’s Comfort Plus pack, which includes a high-comfort seat, automatic air conditioning and a leather steering wheel. Drivers also benefit from a highly responsive 10-inch infotainment system and large customisable digital driver’s display.

Adam Bish, director of Penfold Verrall, said: “I’ve driven many trucks during my years in the business, and none of them handle the off-road conditions quite like an IVECO X-Way. The 8×4 configuration gives us maximum manoeuvrability on site, as well as a powerful and efficient on-road performance.”

Duncan Nurse, Iveco business line director (medium and heavy) UK & ROI, said: “The Iveco X-Way has become a staple of fleets requiring off-road capability as well as on-road refinement and efficiency. Penfold Verrall’s fleet of Ivecos are the perfect embodiment of the X-Way ethos.”
