Motus Commercials opens new DAF dealership at Motherwell

Motus Commercials has celebrated a major milestone with the opening of its new £10 million DAF Trucks dealership at Ravenscraig in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire.

The new Motus Motherwell dealership was officially opened by DAF Trucks managing director, Nigel Beckett, and Motus Commercials managing director, Matt Lawrenson, with regional director (Scotland) Kevin McGinley performing the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

“I am delighted to announce the opening of the new Motus Motherwell dealership, marking an important milestone in Motus Commercials’ growth strategy and its commitment to serving customers across the region,” Nigel said.

Matt Lawrenson outlined the advantages of moving from Bellshill to a purpose-built dealership on a four-acre site.

“Now, with 11 dedicated 30-metre work bays, we’ve increased our workshop capacity. This is also an electric truck centre, with charging facilities and the capability to service and maintain battery-electric vehicles,” he said.

“We’ve increased our parts stockholding to £2 million, and we are open from 7am on Monday through to 1pm on Saturday. It really is a one-stop-shop facility.”

Motus Commercials’ dealerships in Scotland are based at Ayr, Cumbernauld, Dumfries, Glasgow and Motherwell, and collectively have some 186 employees, including 74 technicians, 21 apprentices, 14 DAFAid vans, 40 parts personnel and 11 parts delivery vans.

Kevin McGinley said: “This investment firmly establishes Motherwell as our flagship dealership, providing an exceptional experience for our customers and delivering a first-class working environment for our dedicated team.”

Nigel Beckett, managing director, DAF Trucks UK & Ireland, added: “The new Motus Commercials’ DAF Dealership in Motherwell represents a huge commitment to supporting DAF customers across Scotland’s central belt. The site’s opening is a key part of the continuing investment by the entire DAF Dealer Network. Recent and planned investments by DAF Dealers across the United Kingdom now total more than £100m, delivering new and improved truck sales, parts and service locations that enhance service and support for DAF customers.

“Since 2018 our Network has added 150 workshop bays; that’s three kilometres of extra lane space! Our facilities provide safe and efficient working environments, furnished with the latest equipment and technologies for DAF Technicians.”
