The Road Transport Expo 2026 is now underway at NAEC Stoneleigh, Warwickshire, and exhibitors include vehicle repowering specialist and Wrightbus sister company NewPower, which has announced a new order for a converted diesel truck as it showcases its haulage offering.

NewPower is working with sustainable haulage specialist Darcica Logistics on a diesel-to-electric truck conversion, and says the order reflects the growing appetite among fleet operators for cost-effective ways to decarbonise fleets while extending the life of existing trucks.

NewPower launched in Bicester 2024 and added truck repowering last year to help accelerate the decarbonisation of commercial vehicle fleets by replacing diesel powertrains with proven battery-electric technology.

By converting existing trucks rather than replacing them entirely, repowering offers operators a significantly lower-cost route to zero-emission operations, says the firm, while reducing waste and extending vehicle lifecycles.

The company is showcasing its repowering technology at RTX until Thursday, in the Blue Zone on Stand B25.

James Bishop, programme director at NewPower, said: “We’re seeing increasing interest from operators who want to decarbonise but also make smart financial and operational decisions.

“Darcica Logistics has demonstrated real leadership in sustainable transport, and this order underlines the growing role that repowering can play alongside new electric vehicles in helping fleets accelerate their transition to net zero.

“We are looking forward to showcasing our technology at the Road Transport Expo and having conversations with hauliers about how repowering can accelerate their decarbonisation programmes.”

The order comes as Oxfordshire-based Darcica pushes forward its zero-emission strategy, building on a sustainability strategy that has already seen the company become an industry leader in low-carbon logistics. It will be one of three new electric vehicles for the firm, along with new 44-tonne and 18-tonne trucks.

Anthony Tattersall, co-founder of Darcica Logistics, said: “Our commitment has always been to find practical ways to reduce emissions without compromising service for our customers. Repowering is an exciting opportunity because it enables operators to retain existing vehicles while transitioning to zero-emission transport.

“As we continue expanding our electric fleet, we’re keen to explore every viable technology that supports a more sustainable future for logistics.”

Founded in 2020 by Anthony and his wife Melanie, Darcica Logistics was established with a mission to modernise transport while putting people and the planet at the centre of its operations. Named after their daughters, Darcey and Jessica, the business has embedded sustainability into its identity from day one.

The company was recognised with the Sustainable Transport Award at the 2024 Motor Transport Awards and has achieved Mission Zero accreditation, including the Sustainability Module aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. It is also a member of the SME Climate Hub and a Certified B Corporation.

Today, over 30 per cent of its fleet of more than 25 commercial vehicles is electric, operating zero-emission deliveries across Oxfordshire and beyond.
