Prometeon: fleets need clearer view of true tyre costs
Prometeon Tyre Group says conversations with fleets at Road Transport Expo (RTX) 2026 highlighted a clear appetite among operators for greater visibility and control of their tyre policies, service support and true tyre costs.
The truck tyre specialist returned to RTX for the fourth consecutive year, exhibiting at NAEC Stoneleigh from 30 June to 2 July, where its team met with a broad mix of fleet operators, procurement specialists, OEMs, dealers and existing customers.
Prometeon says discussions on the stand underlined how many hauliers are continuing to review their tyre arrangements, with operators looking beyond initial tyre price and focusing more closely on whole-life cost, application suitability, service consistency and the level of management information available to them.
Darren Heywood, UK sales and fleet manager at Prometeon Tyre Group, said: “RTX gave us the opportunity to speak directly with a wide range of fleet managers and procurement teams, and one of the strongest themes to come through was that many operators still do not have a clear enough picture of their true tyre spend.
“Fleets are looking for more than a replacement tyre. They want the right product for the right application, supported by a service network that can respond quickly and consistently, and backed by the data and insight needed to manage tyre policy properly.”
Prometeon used RTX 2026 to put truck tyre strategy at the centre of its stand activity, encouraging operators to consider how tyre selection, service provision, data visibility and proactive management can all contribute to uptime, cost control and operational performance.
The company says fleet conversations frequently centred on dissatisfaction with current tyre arrangements, with servicing support and resource availability emerging as recurring concerns for operators.
Steve Tift, managing director UK and Ireland at Prometeon, said: “The conversations we had at RTX reinforced exactly why tyre strategy matters. For many fleets, the challenge is not simply choosing a premium tyre; it is understanding how that tyre performs in their specific operation, how it is managed throughout its life and how quickly support can be delivered when vehicles need attention.
“That is where Prometeon can add real value. We work with operators to look at the whole tyre picture — the vehicle, the application, the routes, the service requirements and the cost data — so they can make more informed decisions and get better control of tyre performance across the fleet.”
Prometeon showcased key products from its premium truck tyre range at the show, with strong interest in both regional and mixed-application fitments.
The R02 Trailer attracted interest from general fleet operators, while the G02 range drew attention from visitors operating in more demanding on/off-road applications. Prometeon’s team also discussed wider product requirements across regional, long-haul, construction and mixed-use operations, helping visitors identify the most appropriate tyres for their vehicles and duty cycles.
The stand also provided a platform for Prometeon to discuss Pro Management, its centralised tyre management platform designed to help fleets manage tyre activity, job history, approvals and costs more effectively.
Tift added: “Pro Management is becoming an increasingly important part of our fleet offer because it gives operators clearer information and more control. When fleets are telling us they do not always know their true tyre costs, that is exactly where better data, better processes and better visibility can make a difference.”
Prometeon says RTX generated a number of new business conversations, with several follow-up calls and meetings already underway with fleets interested in working with the company.
Tift concluded: “RTX continues to be an important event for Prometeon because it brings together the right mix of operators, suppliers, dealers and industry partners. This year’s show gave us the chance to have valuable conversations with both new and existing customers, and to demonstrate how our specialist truck tyre focus can support fleets that want a more structured and transparent approach to tyre management.
“Our message remains clear: if you run trucks, we are here to help you get more from your tyres.”
