Eastleigh Borough Council drives up efficiency with Fleetclear
Eastleigh Borough Council (EBC) reports that it has seen significant improvements in both the reliability and efficiency of managing its fleet operations since moving over to Fleetclear’s Live tracking technology.
The council operates 50+ vehicles comprising Refuse Collection Vehicles (RCVs), Luton vans and tippers, which are now equipped with Fleetclear’s 360° Live camera systems, the Cyclear cyclist safety warning device and reverse radar.
The council also recently switched to the Fleetclear Connect software platform to consolidate data from all its vehicle safety equipment. Supervisors have access to a web-based, customisable dashboard where they have visibility of every aspect of fleet operations.
Before the switch the council was using two separate systems for tracking and cameras. As Tom Broomfield, street services manager at EBC, explained: “It was very disjointed before; we couldn’t get the systems to talk to each other, coverage wasn’t great and we had blackspots across the borough. We now have 99 per cent coverage.”
Now, Tom and his team can see what’s happening on rounds without physically having to be there.
“Switching to Fleetclear has been a gamechanger. We know where all our vehicles are at any one time and can review any camera at the touch of a button.”
Dylan McKinnon, operational trainee, street services, EBC, added: “A customer might say that their bin has been missed, and the crew can say the bin wasn’t presented. We can check the cameras and see exactly what occurred pretty much instantly. Anything I want to access is there in seconds. We can see what really happened and put things right.”
