Fastview360 enables recording from digital wing mirrors

Fastview360 has announced the launch of Smartview360, a technology that enables operators to record, monitor and manage footage directly from their existing manufacturer-fitted digital wing mirror cameras.

“Modern commercial vehicles are increasingly equipped with digital wing mirrors, providing drivers with enhanced visibility and improved road safety,” said Fastview360.

“However, until now, these factory-installed systems have been unable to record footage or provide remote access when incidents occur. Fastview360 have changed that with the development of Smartview360. As the first solution of its kind, Smartview360 is compatible with manufacturer-installed mirrorless wing mirror systems, without the need to interfere with the manufacturer system.”

The system was launched at the Road Transport Expo with a DAF XD on display, supplied by DAF UK, providing visitors and delegates an opportunity to see the system live in action, take a look at the solution and see the new DAF at the entrance gates to the show.

With Smartview360, fleets can utilise existing digital wing mirror cameras without installing additional hardware, benefit from Fastview360’s technology that captures footage directly from manufacturer digital wing mirrors, add additional vehicle cameras where required, and manage incidents efficiently through FVLink, providing live viewing, remote recording and rapid access to footage whenever it is needed.

For fleets with additional third-party cameras already installed, Fastview360 can integrate these into the same platform, supporting up to eight cameras, including the original manufacturer-supplied cameras. This creates a comprehensive, unified vehicle surveillance solution without unnecessary duplication of equipment, says the company.

Cited benefits include the first-time retrieval of 99 per cent of footage remotely in 2025, remote viewing and recording capabilities, reduced installation costs, and avoiding the need for expensive hardware replacement, given integration with existing manufacturer and third-party cameras.

“Smartview360 has been developed to help fleet operators improve operational efficiency, strengthen safety and gain greater visibility over their vehicles, while maximising the value of the technology already installed by vehicle manufacturers,” said Fastview360.

“By eliminating the need to replace or duplicate factory-fitted digital wing mirror systems, Smartview360 offers a smarter, more cost-effective approach to connected fleet video management.”
