Knorr-Bremse broadens offer on transmission products
Knorr-Bremse TruckServices has outlined details of its commercial vehicle transmission components offering, including for Volvo applications.
Knorr-Bremse is often known as a brake supplier, but also manufactures large quantities of powertrain components, particularly in the field of transmission and clutch actuators.
“With the advent of electronics in commercial vehicle technology in the 1990s, clutch actuators were also electrified,” said the firm.
“Starting in 2000, Knorr-Bremse supplied ZF with its first electronic clutch actuator for the AS Tronic transmission, which was used by many European commercial vehicle manufacturers and is still available today as an aftermarket product – both as a new part and as a remanufactured EconX product directly from Knorr-Bremse.
“Knorr-Bremse has gradually expanded its market position in this segment. One development milestone is the electro-pneumatic clutch actuator for Volvo’s dual-clutch transmission (DCVU). Knorr-Bremse has been supplying the concentric clutch actuator (CCA) for Volvo’s automated transmissions since 2022.
“The decoupling of the valve and sensor unit facilitates removal and installation, and the system also has a self-cleaning function. Service instructions are available to assist with replacement.”
Since the start of series production, more than 400,000 vehicles worldwide have been equipped with the CCA, which is now also available for the independent aftermarket – as is the DCVU.
“All products are manufactured in accordance with OE specifications, ensuring original equipment quality.
“Each DCVU includes a comprehensive service kit, providing all necessary components for replacement.
“Installation support is available through detailed service instructions found online.”
