Shell aids Amazon partners with high-power charging
Shell has announced that it is working with Amazon to help charge the electric heavy-duty trucks in its transportation network in Germany, using high-power truck charging hubs in Hannover, Kirchheim and, shortly, Koblenz.
Shell will provide high-power charging infrastructure at key logistics locations in Germany to support electric heavy-duty truck operations within Amazon’s transportation network. The hubs are designed for the demands of heavy-duty fleets, with liquid-cooled, bookable chargers delivering up to 400 kW to help meet the power requirements and turnaround times needed for electric truck operations.
Amazon’s partners will also use Shell’s ‘Home-away-from-Home’ model at selected sites. The Shell-developed system allows fleet operators to reserve charging slots in advance, helping make public high-power charging more predictable and better aligned with route planning, vehicle uptime and legally mandated driver rest periods.
Access and payment are handled through the Shell Card, giving fleet customers a single payment and management solution across Shell’s growing integrated charging network for heavy-duty vehicles in Germany, which currently includes around 150 charging points.
The collaboration in Germany builds on Shell’s existing relationship with Amazon, where Shell already provides mobility products and services in other countries.

Amazon is among the largest buyers of electric trucks in Europe, with more than 45 electric heavy-duty vehicles currently operating within its transportation network in Germany. By integrating Shell’s public charging network into its logistics network, Amazon can support the continued scale-up of electric trucks.

Germany is one of Shell’s key energy transition countries and a core market for its e-mobility business. Shell currently operates more than 2,400 charging points across the country, supporting customers as their mobility needs change.
