Four more Scanias win five-star safety ratings

Four more Scania trucks have been awarded five-star safety ratings in Euro NCAP’s Safer Trucks Programme. Scania’s R and G-series trucks have been awarded five stars in both 4×2 tractor and 6×2 rigid chassis forms.

Euro NCAP recognised the R-series for its strong performance in Safe Driving and Collision Avoidance evaluation tests.

The G-series also scored well for its balanced safety performance. Euro NCAP testers described it as a safe all-rounder when specified with the appropriate safety equipment. Its low cab, deep windows and low belt line support better overall vision for the driver in a variety of driving conditions. Euro NCAP also awarded the City Safe Award to both the G-series and R-series, which scores features on heavy duty vehicles designed to prevent accidents in urban environments.

Scania’s L and P-series trucks were awarded the top NCAP rating earlier this year.

Scania has also opened a new training academy at its UK headquarters in Milton Keynes. Opened by Scania and Traton CEO Christian Levin, the new dedicated building sees Scania training return to Milton Keynes from the old facility in Loughborough, which had been the home to Scania’s apprentice and technical training for the last 26 years.
