BMI Trailers to bring Weightlifter tipping trailers to Ireland
BMI Trailers has announced a new partnership with British trailer manufacturer Weightlifter Bodies, bringing its established range of bulk tipping trailers to operators across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
Building on a longstanding relationship between the two companies, the partnership combines Weightlifter’s decades of experience in trailer design and manufacture with BMI Trailers’ established presence and customer network.
Initially, BMI Trailers will introduce three of Weightlifter’s popular bulk tipping trailer models to the Irish market, with selected trailers available from stock at its locations in Moy, County Tyrone, and Naas, County Kildare. Customers will also have access to Weightlifter’s wider range of UK-manufactured trailers, built to order to meet their individual operational requirements.
All trailers supplied through the partnership will be manufactured in the UK and meet European type approval standards.
The initial range available through BMI Trailers will include three established models designed to meet the demands of agricultural and commercial bulk haulage operations.
The 70YD Sloped Body Bulker is a proven and popular design with more than 30 years of experience in the market, says BMI, offering a dependable solution for bulk transport applications, while the 70YD Step-Frame Bulker is a well-established and widely accepted design suited to demanding bulk haulage operations. Thirdly, the Harvester Lightweight Bulker is said to offer an innovative lightweight sloped-body design featuring a shorter chassis frame and pocket-type ram mounting to deliver significant weight savings and maximise available payload.
The wider Weightlifter range also includes aluminium monocoque trailers, aluminium aggregate half barrel trailers and steel half barrel trailers, providing solutions for operators working across agriculture, aggregates, quarrying and construction.
Customers will be able to work directly with BMI Trailers to identify the most suitable trailer for their operation, with options covering body design, capacity, equipment and individual specifications.
Commenting on the announcement, Brendan McIlvanna, managing director of BMI Trailers, said: “We are delighted to be working with Weightlifter and bringing their established range of tipping trailers back to the Irish market.
“Weightlifter has a strong reputation for manufacturing high-quality trailers, and we believe there is a real opportunity to offer customers across Ireland greater choice when it comes to bulk tipping equipment.
“Changes to European type approval requirements following Brexit had previously affected the availability of Weightlifter trailers in Ireland. With these requirements now addressed, we’re pleased to be able to offer their products once again.
“By holding selected models in stock at our locations in Co. Tyrone, Northern Ireland and Naas, Co. Kildare, customers will have the opportunity to view the trailers before purchasing, while also benefiting from shorter lead times on available stock. We look forward to developing this partnership and making the Weightlifter range more accessible to operators throughout Ireland.”
Commenting on the partnership, Michael Hill, managing director of Weightlifter Bodies, said: “We’re pleased to be working with BMI Trailers to bring the Weightlifter range back to customers across Ireland. We’ve known and worked with BMI for many years, and we share an understanding of what operators need from their trailers and the service behind them. That makes them a strong partner for us as we develop our presence in the Irish market.
“When an operator invests in a trailer, they need confidence that it will do the job, stand up to daily use and earn its keep. Our manufacturing experience stretches back to the 1930s, but our focus remains on what customers need today: quality, reliability, payload, and equipment suited to their operation. Combining that experience with BMI’s local knowledge and customer relationships will give Irish operators access to our full range, with selected trailers available locally for viewing and quicker delivery.”
A key benefit of the partnership will be the availability of locally held stock, says BMI, allowing customers to inspect trailers in person, discuss their requirements with its experienced team and potentially take delivery sooner where suitable specifications are available. Alongside stock trailers, BMI will offer customers the opportunity to place forward orders for trailers manufactured to their individual requirements.
