DVSA annual test advice
Operators with vehicles and trailers which are due annual vehicle roadworthiness tests during August, September, October or November this year have been asked by DVSA to consider moving test dates to May, June or July, to avoid peaks in demand caused by test extensions granted last year at the height of the Covid crisis.
DVSA says operators who do so will find it easier to get convenient appointments, and it will help spread the demand for future tests evenly across the months in years to come.
“Last year we issued exemptions to help keep industry moving during the pandemic,” said the agency.
“As a result, test dates are not evenly spread throughout the year and August, September, October and November are significantly busier than usual.
“This will put pressure on the wider industry, including those involved in preparing vehicles for test and maintaining them throughout the year, as well as the capacity available at ATFs.
“In May, June and July, we are expecting much lower test volumes. So ATFs will have more tests available in those months.”
