AddSecure: boosting fleet security with vehicle cameras
Fleet management technology provider AddSecure has outlined the increasing role onboard camera systems are playing in ensuring the security of vehicles and their cargo.
“Vehicle and asset security is an increasing concern for businesses across a number of industries,” said Paul Lawrence, managing director of AddSecure UK, North America and Australia.
“As technology develops, camera systems are taking a more active role in vehicle security. Whether it’s to protect expensive goods during delivery, improve driver safety or reduce on-site asset theft, installing cameras to fleet and machinery has benefits beyond just safety assurances.”
By installing vehicle camera systems both internally and externally, says Paul, a holistic overview of accidents, theft or driver behaviour can be provided.
“Incorporating the latest AI technology such as AddSecure’s RoadView Plus video telematics solution with in-built ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and DMS (Driver Monitoring Systems) technology, aims to detect high-risk behaviour such as distracted driving or driver fatigue,” he continued.
“External cameras can also offer an additional layer of security for insurance purposes. As well as reducing overall insurance costs, camera footage can be used as evidence if false claims are made against drivers, or they are involved in an accident.
“Internal cameras installed in the passenger compartment can provide supporting evidence in the event of vehicle theft, with cloud-based technology allowing instant access to the footage from anywhere.
“For vehicles travelling with valuable goods such as electronic equipment, sports cars or plant equipment, the security and safety of the driver and cargo is imperative. Installing the most high-quality video-based safety systems will improve driver safety and vehicle security, so businesses can rest assured knowing goods, equipment and its people are protected.
“Travelling across countries with valuable goods can be a concern for many businesses. By installing internal load cameras to act as a CCTV camera, business can have peace of mind knowing that should anything happen to the goods during transportation, they will have video recordings of the incident.”
Whilst external cameras are mostly installed for accident reduction or driver aid, says Paul, a full 360° camera system offers an additional level of security.
“Not only will a suite of cameras protect goods during transportation, but they can also reduce the risk of diesel theft, a growing concern within the transport and logistics sector,” he added.
“This issue is exacerbated more when fuel prices peak.
“Some customers choose to install cameras to vehicles and machinery left on-site overnight. The cameras can be set to run for a longer period when the site is empty, allowing teams to access footage in the event of an incident.
“AddSecure’s cloud-based camera technology automatically uploads all event footage and data directly to a web-based platform, allowing for easy access and analysis.
“Around the clock asset tracking is also central to any fleet management solution. Whether it’s vehicles or machinery, asset tracking protects against theft and misuse. Not only can tracking devices act as a deterrent against theft and enhance security but they will also increase the chances of recovering stolen vehicles.
“Trackers can also be installed on vehicles in two locations as an additional precautionary measure, should one of the trackers be removed during an incident, the back-up tracker can provide all the relevant information to ensure a swift recovery.”
UK and Ireland haulage provider A1 Solutions uses AddSecure’s combined vehicle tracking and multi-camera technology to ensure safe and secure deliveries for customers.
“Ensuring our drivers’ safety and protecting our deliveries is of paramount importance,” said Stuart Cawthorne, transport manager at A1 Transport.
“AddSecure’s multi-camera system has been a transformative addition to our fleet. Its real-time monitoring, high-definition video recording, and user-friendly interface have provided valuable insights for improving driver behaviour and reducing accident rates. Moreover, the system’s presence acts as a strong deterrent against theft, enhancing overall security.”
Vehicle security solutions can be tailored to suit the needs of any fleet, says Paul Lawrence, with a business’s needs at the core of every system.
“Transporting goods across countries or leaving vehicles unattended during quick stop deliveries can often risk the safety of cargo,” he added.
“Installing multi-camera systems across a fleet helps to minimise the risk of theft of goods or vehicles and reduces insurance costs, giving their businesses and drivers added security.”
