VDO and FleetCheck forge compliance partnership

An integration between FleetCheck’s fleet management software and VDO’s tachograph data is proving a time-saving asset with wider business benefits, according to the partners.

Fleet operators need a single management system that displays all the necessary data they need to save time, save costs and stay audit-ready, say the companies.

“Regardless of fleet size or makeup, data often needs to be pulled from multiple sources, meaning multiple tabs, multiple login details, multiple supplier relationships and multiple invoices.

“Operating between different systems creates data silos that can lead to missed compliance deadlines, operational inefficiencies, VOR, longer repair times and many other costly issues.

“This fragmentation makes it unnecessarily complicated for transport managers to meet compliance standards and hinders fleet managers from being able establish time-efficient processes.

“While this has widely been accepted as an unfortunate reality of modern fleet management, VDO and FleetCheck’s partnership brings data together in a huge step forward.”

Fleet management software provider FleetCheck has 20 years’ experience of simplifying compliance processes, while VDO is a major provider of tachograph technology with a century-long heritage.

“This partnership marks a shift from the traditional approach of choosing a fleet management system that suits your needs and bolting on a tachograph element, or vice versa. Compliance is fundamental no matter the industry or size of the business.

“VDO’s high-quality tachograph analysis and FleetCheck’s central platform for compliance provide unrivalled visibility over data to make meeting compliance requirements less hassle, less time-consuming and less costly.”

For businesses considering becoming a member of DVSA Earned Recognition or looking to maintain their Earned Recognition status, this partnership is a must-have, the companies say.

“FleetCheck is a validated IT supplier for Earned Recognition and VDO are a validated manufacturer. This means that using VDO and FleetCheck today is already enough to get you to Earned Recognition status confidently.

“Businesses can already benchmark their compliance against key KPIs whether they are part of Earned Recognition or not, but this integration lays the foundations for a single, unified dashboard between both systems. This dashboard has all the data needed to meet KPIs, which gives fleet operators a single platform for compliance, in order for them to meet a wide range of compliance standards, including any O-licence undertakings.”

VDO and FleetCheck’s integration goes beyond a simple data import, they add.

“Single sign-on (SSO) makes switching between FleetCheck, the central management hub, and detailed tachograph information within VDO secure and easy – another first for the industry.

“SSO helps make compliance processes far quicker and smoother by reducing the administrative frictions that make compliance more complex and inefficient than it needs to be.

“Businesses no longer need to login to different platforms and juggle several sets of passwords to see key information like walkaround checks, maintenance records, drivers’ hours and calibration statuses. VDO and FleetCheck remove the need for time-consuming management and costly contracts with multiple providers.”

There are so many key dates that fleet operators need to be aware of and ready for, say the partners, that it can be difficult to focus on them all.

“Through a series of robust APIs, VDO data is deeply integrated into the FleetCheck platform. This means FleetCheck becomes the central system to view all your key compliance data, including data downloads, driver card data, tachograph calibrations, annual tests, servicing, PMIs, driver training and driver medical checks.

“Bringing VDO’s tachograph data into the FleetCheck platform means businesses can set custom alerts for upcoming key deadlines, to know what’s coming, and see what data has been collected and when, to know their readiness status. The VDO-FleetCheck partnership gives fleet operators the confidence that they’ll never be caught out by key deadline dates again.

“Compliance is essential to every business, but it is often seen as a drain on time and costs. Both FleetCheck and VDO recognise how complex and challenging fleet management compliance can be – and the pride that comes from passing an audit inspection with flying colours.

“While compliance may never be easy, VDO and FleetCheck’s partnership is the start of something impressive for the industry. Fleet operators can have greater confidence in their compliance with a partnership that makes processes smoother, more transparent, efficient and cost-effective. Vehicle, driver and asset data is brought togehter in one place and made available in near-real time.

“There is also the potential for offline capabilities, for work in remote areas, and multi-language support and cross-border compliance tracking for operators with international ambitions. All in all, this partnership has taken the ideal of managing all compliance data from one single place and made it real.”

Kieran O’Shea, director at construction specialist J O’Shea and Sons Ltd, commented: “Managing everything related to my fleet in one place has always been the ideal scenario. This new partnership between FleetCheck and VDO feels like a major step to that goal – and it’s exciting to see it become a reality.”
