Two Mercedes-Benz trucks – a fully electric eActros 600 and an Actros L ProCabin running on hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) – were deployed at Paris Fashion Week last month, delivering catwalk sets for a British luxury fashion house. The operation was managed by UK-based logistics partner KB Event, in collaboration with Mertrux Truck & Van.

Sustainability has become a growing priority in the fashion industry, with some designers now presenting collections made with up to 98 per cent sustainable materials.

For the journey from the UK to Paris, the eActros 600 carried an average truck weight of 27 tonnes. Powered entirely by renewable energy, it covered 772 miles (1,242 km), saving an estimated 844 kg of CO2 emissions compared to a diesel truck – equivalent to the annual absorption of 37 mature trees. Consumption data indicated the vehicle achieved nearly 600 km on a single charge.

KB Event integrated charging stops into its schedule to ensure timely delivery. One of the drivers described the eActros 600 as: “An amazing bit of kit and the power behind the vehicle was especially impressive.”

Leanne Clark, eConsultancy manager at Mercedes-Benz parent Daimler Truck UK, said: “With zero tailpipe emissions, and a proven range of nearly 600km on the trip to Paris, the eActros 600 shows that electric freight can match the demands of high-profile, high-tempo events, while helping fashion move in a greener direction.

“Using the eActros 600 to serve Paris Fashion Week underscores our belief that sustainable logistics shouldn’t be optional and have to deliver both performance and impact.”

The British fashion house involved in the project commented: “We are committed to reducing the environmental impact of our shows. Marking the 10-year anniversary of the Paris Climate Agreement, the house has collaborated with NGO ACT1.5 to adopt a 360º approach, from using low-impact set materials and electric transport to powering the show with renewable HVO energy.”

The eActros 600, named International Truck of the Year 2025, is designed for long-distance haulage with a gross combination weight of up to 44 tonnes. Cited benefits include efficient aerodynamics and a battery capacity exceeding 600 kilowatt hours. The truck also features Megawatt Charging System capability, enabling recharging from 20 per cent to 80 per cent in approximately 30 minutes.
