CS2 Transport expands artic and reefer fleet with Asset Alliance
Temperature-controlled logistics provider CS2 Transport has expanded its fleet with three new DAF XG 530 tractor units and seven Chereau multi-temperature semi-trailers, supplied by Asset Alliance Group.
The vehicles have been delivered on multi-year contract hire agreements, which include full repair and maintenance packages covering tyres and roadside assistance.
Kevin Ford, operations director at CS2 Transport, said: “We run 24-7, stopping only for Christmas Day, working with the major supermarkets, food manufacturers and food service providers on a demanding schedule. It’s vital we have a flexible, reliable vehicle fleet that won’t let us down.
“Asset Alliance Group were straight-talking throughout the process, competitive, and able to deliver what we needed hassle-free. National key account manager Jim Agnew – who put the deal together – was so helpful throughout the process and we know we can reach him on the phone quickly if there’s ever an issue.”
All CS2 Transport’s semi-trailers and refrigerated rigid vehicles are multi-temperature. The new Chereau trailers are fitted with Carrier Vector HE 19 units, enabling the business to deliver a complete service across the UK, covering ambient, chilled, frozen and finished goods. Contract hire is CS2 Transport’s preferred financing method, with fleet assets supplied in exchange for simple monthly payments.
Highlighted features of the DAF XG 6×2 tractor units include spacious cabs, air-sprung driver seats, and ‘Xtra Comfort’ mattresses. These additions follow four DAF XG 530 tractor units supplied by Asset Alliance Group in 2023.
Ford added: “We also found that the administrative side of this latest deal – the paperwork essentially – went very smoothly, which is not always the case in these situations. This freed me up to concentrate on the demands of my day job.”
Based in Chesterfield, CS2 Transport operates a fleet of 60 vehicles ranging from Mercedes-Benz Sprinters to 18-26 tonne trucks, most fitted with tail lifts, as well as tractor unit and semi-trailer combinations. The company also runs a BRCGS Grade AA accredited cold store, cross-dock facility, and blast freezing operation.
