Bus manufacturer Alexander Dennis has supplied two Enviro200 single-deck buses to independent Scottish operator Wilson’s of Rhu.

The two 8.9m buses have 30 seats each, and will be used to upgrade the operator’s two bus routes out of Helensburgh.

They have destination boards and next stop announcements provided by Mobitec, and USB charging points at every seat.

They replace an earlier Enviro200 bought new by the business in 2022.

Wilson’s of Rhu is a family business, run by second-generation directors Alistair and Kenneth Wilson. It operates a fleet of 12 coaches and buses based in the village of Rhu, near Helensburgh. Its business provides a mix of local bus routes, schools and works contracts plus private hire.

Alistair Wilson, Managing Director of Wilson’s of Rhu, said: “These new buses represent a significant upgrade for our bus services, meeting the latest emissions standards and with a number of improved features.

“We have run an Enviro200 on these routes for the last couple of years and it has proved to be a great choice. We’re looking forward to our passengers’ reaction to these two new buses.

“The Alexander Dennis team have supported the purchase every step of the way. Thanks especially to Charlie Miller, a pleasure to deal with as always.”

Charlie Miller, head of retail sales for Alexander Dennis, said: “We’re very proud and grateful that Alistair and Kenneth have come to us for their local bus service requirements. After buying their first Alexander Dennis in 2022 it’s great that they’ve returned. The buses look wonderful in the Wilson’s livery.

“They represent an unbelievable effort from our team, who managed to see through some late changes to the specification while still meeting the customer’s delivery expectation. Our procurement and production teams really pulled it out of the bag, and everyone is delighted with the results.”
