Maximising mobility uptime with ZF diagnostics
From smart trailers and electrified drivetrains to multi-brand fleets and increasingly complex repair needs, operators face mounting challenges in keeping vehicles productive and on the road, says technology provider ZF.
“Modern commercial vehicles are packed with smart systems – from brakes and telematics to TPMS and batteries. Yet because these components come from different manufacturers, data is fragmented, making it hard to see the full picture.
“ZF’s Scalar next-generation fleet management platform solves this by integrating components from more than 20 global OEMs, turning isolated data streams into one coherent digital environment…
“Advanced analytics then turn this raw information into actionable insights, enabling safer driving, smarter planning and predictive maintenance.”
In addition to features such as an electronic brake performance monitoring solution (EBPMS) and integration with tyre pressure monitoring data, the system incorporates Scalar Remote Diagnostics, which can identify irregularities, fault codes and component deviations early – often before drivers notice them. This allows operators to prioritise repairs and prepare workshops in advance.
While Scalar provides operators a real-time view of vehicle health and performance, uptime also depends on fast, accurate repairs when issues arise.
“ZF [pro]Diagnostics delivers workshops with a complete diagnostics ecosystem designed so that when vehicles need maintenance, it can be carried out swiftly and effectively. As mixed fleets grow and technology evolves, ZF provides both the broad coverage and deep system insight needed to speed up repairs and reduce unplanned downtime.”
ZF MultiScan CV is a multi-brand tool that enables workshops to diagnose issues with light commercial vehicles, trucks, trailers, buses and mixed fleets with a single device.
“Built on ZF’s proven diagnostics platform, it delivers fast troubleshooting, continuous coverage updates and support for new technologies such as electrification and ADAS, helping technicians work quicker.”
Meanwhile, ZF Scan is the next-generation platform for ZF and former Wabco systems, which is said to bring true OEM-level diagnostics into the aftermarket.
“The tool unifies earlier Wabco and ZF solutions into one intuitive platform, includes Rapid Vehicle Scan for faster fault detection, and automatically manages cybersecurity and software updates in line with UN R155 and R156 (SUMS). It also remains compatible with previous-generation hardware, protecting workshop investment.
“In the UK, existing Wabco Diagnostics and Testman licences are being migrated to ZF Scan from late 2025 into early 2026, with ZF Aftermarket supporting a smooth transition. ZF Scan is also available now for new customers.
“Together, MultiScan CV and ZF Scan give fleets and workshops the complete diagnostic capability they need: wide coverage across every brand and deep insight into ZF and Wabco systems, both essential for maximising uptime and keeping vehicles operating safely and efficiently.”
