AssetGo: reducing risk with smarter fleet management

AssetGo, the fleet and driver compliance software specialist, has drawn attention to the ongoing pressure transport operators face in meeting regulatory requirements, and how digital compliance management is becoming essential to maintaining control, safety and operational standards.

Across commercial fleets, compliance obligations span vehicle inspections, preventative maintenance, driver licensing, working time rules and data retention. Managing these responsibilities manually or across disconnected systems, says AssetGo, creates risk, inefficiency and a lack of visibility, particularly for multi-vehicle, multi-driver operations.

In this regard, AssetGo was developed specifically to address these challenges by bringing fleet and driver compliance into a single, centralised platform.

“At its core, compliance is about control, and knowing that vehicles are safe, drivers are legal and records are accurate and accessible,” advised Matt Abrams, commercial director at AssetGo.

“Our focus is on giving operators that control in real time, rather than leaving them exposed to gaps that only surface during an audit or roadside check.”

A key component of AssetGo’s compliance offering is its digital walkaround check and defect management functionality. Drivers complete legally required daily checks via a mobile app, with defects logged instantly and escalated where necessary.

For their part, fleet managers gain immediate visibility of vehicle condition, while time-stamped records create a reliable audit trail and ensure unroadworthy vehicles are addressed before they present a risk.

According to Matt, AssetGo also places strong emphasis on driver compliance. Automated licence checking helps operators track entitlements, endorsements and expiry dates without manual intervention, while alerts flag issues before they become compliance breaches.

Furthermore, for organisations managing grey fleet drivers, insurance and documentation checks provide additional reassurance that duty of care obligations are being met.

Drivers’ hours and tachograph analysis further support compliance by allowing operators to monitor infringements, rest periods and working time trends.

“By identifying risks early, fleet managers can take corrective action, support driver wellbeing and demonstrate a proactive approach to compliance,” said Matt, “including meeting the standards required for DVSA Earned Recognition.”

It is a view recently echoed by William Stone, group plant manager at FCC Environment, the waste management specialist.

“Staying legal is of course, a key requisite, while optimising asset efficiency is another,” he said.

“Fully documented vehicle checks, and live control over defect reporting means we have accurate data for DVSA inspections etc., as and when required. Plus, we have the ability to take immediate corrective action, improve safety, keep costs and downtime low while all the time maintaining a high level of customer service.”

Vehicle compliance is supported through AssetGo’s fleet management tools, which manage MOTs, servicing schedules, inspections and preventative maintenance. Dashboards provide a clear overview of compliance status across the fleet, while configurable reports allow operators to evidence compliance to regulators, customers and internal stakeholders.

By replacing spreadsheets, paper files and separate systems with a single source of accurate data reference, AssetGo aims to help operators reduce administrative overhead while improving accountability and traceability. The result is not only stronger compliance, says the company, but greater confidence across fleet operations.

Matt Abrams added: “With compliance scrutiny continuing to intensify, we believe that technology-led compliance management will be central to how fleets protect their people, their assets and their licences in the years ahead.”
