Convey: supporting driver and vehicle compliance

Fleet management platform Convey has explained how it can support operators’ administrative efforts by covering all key areas of driver and vehicle compliance in a single system, bringing related information together in a clear, structured way to provide visibility and oversight.

“Drivers’ hours, walkaround checks, maintenance schedules and workshop records all need to be managed accurately and kept up to date, alongside the wider demands of running a fleet,” said Convey.

“A single platform that supports both driver and vehicle compliance makes it easier to stay organised, stay compliant and manage day-to-day processes across the business.”

Key elements of this are the Driver App and Manager App, which support day-to-day interaction between drivers and the office. Drivers can view their activity and responsibilities and complete key tasks digitally, while information feeds back into the Convey platform reliably. Driver data can be captured close to real time through remote downloading, helping reduce delays and keep records current, so managers can review activity and take action when needed.

“Together, this shared visibility improves communication, reduces unnecessary queries and supports a more consistent approach to managing driver compliance across the business,” said the company.

Alongside driver compliance, vehicle and asset management plays a key role in day-to-day transport operations. Vehicle checks, defects, maintenance schedules and workshop activity need to be recorded accurately and linked back to each vehicle, says Convey, so teams have a clear, reliable view of what’s happening across the operation.

“Within Convey, vehicle activity can be managed from daily walkaround checks through to maintenance and workshop work. Defects can be tracked through to resolution, maintenance records are kept up to date and easy to review.

“Fleet Management and Workshop tools keep planned and unplanned maintenance organised and connected to each asset, giving operators confidence that vehicle history is complete and maintenance is being managed consistently.”

For operators reviewing their driver and vehicle compliance processes, Convey supports both the Driver System and Vehicle Maintenance System KPIs used within DVSA Earned Recognition, helping teams understand how their processes align with recognised standards, whether or not they are formally part of the scheme.

When driver and vehicle compliance are managed within one system, operators gain a clearer view of their operation, Convey contends.

“Information is easier to access, easier to report on and easier to use day to day. Teams spend less time chasing data and more time using it to support drivers, maintain vehicles and make informed decisions.”

Among the users of the platform is Nick Thomson, transport manager at Bishopsgate Logistics.

“Using Convey to demonstrate our fleet and driver management has been superb,” said Nick.

“Information was easy to find, quick to present and made both our FORS and DVSA audits far smoother.”

PSV operators report similar benefits. Grange Travel, who have moved their compliance processes over to Convey, said: “With a busy PSV operation, we needed a platform that gave our team clear visibility across drivers and vehicles, helping us support our drivers and maintain confidence across the business.”
