Cobley Transport takes Iveco S-Way rigid
Cobley Transport has added a new Iveco S‑Way 6×2 rigid curtainsider to its fleet, joining more than 40 other Iveco vehicles already in operation. The truck will support nationwide haulage work and is expected to cover around 100,000km annually.
The vehicle is powered by the latest FPT XCursor13 engine, producing 460hp, paired with a 12‑speed Hitronix gearbox designed to deliver smooth and efficient performance. Air suspension is said to ensure strong ride comfort and stability, while a rear‑steering axle provides optimum manoeuvrability for the 26‑tonne, 6,050mm‑wheelbase truck in demanding operating conditions.
The model features Iveco’s Active Time cab, equipped with amenities such as a fridge, microwave and a bunk for rest periods. Driver comfort and safety are further supported by an air‑suspended heated fabric seat and a 10‑inch customisable instrument cluster aimed at minimising driver fatigue.
Chris Beet, garage manager at Cobley Transport, said: “Sometimes a job doesn’t require a full 44-tonne truck, and under-utilising a vehicle isn’t financially viable – which is why we opted for an Iveco S-Way Rigid. It’s still 460 horsepower with a 26-tonne GVW, but it gives us flexibility to assign the right vehicle to the right job.”
Mike Cutts, managing director at Iveco UK, added: “The Iveco S-Way Rigid is a highly versatile platform that’s perfect for missions that demand added manoeuvrability and ease of loading. This truck will be right at home within Cobley Transport’s already large Iveco fleet.”
