Queclink expands trailer tracking capability with Open CAN solution
Queclink Wireless Solutions, a global provider of IoT devices and hardware, has expanded its trailer tracking offering with an Open CAN solution, which it says can meet the most challenging asset management and supply chain requirements.
The rugged, hard-wired GV650MG unit has been designed to deliver reliable performance in the harshest operating conditions, says Queclink, while offering deeper data access for complex telematics customisation.
“What really sets the GV650MG apart is the Open CAN architecture, making it one of the most sophisticated and flexible trailer trackers in the marketplace,” explained Vernon Bonser, international sales director at Queclink Wireless Solutions.
“The device is well suited for advanced trailer applications where a road transport operator needs more than location, such as subsystem visibility, compliance-related data collection or integration with broader management platforms.”
With GV650MG, Queclink introduces an Open CAN framework to its range of hard-wired trailer tracking solutions for the first time.
Unlike conventional CAN-based devices that rely on a fixed pre-integrated CAN library, says the company, the device allows customers to integrate data according to precise supply chain needs, enabling more customised telematics solutions and easier scaling across mixed fleet operations.
Cited benefits of the tracker include a rugged and waterproof IP67/IP69K-rated design, dependable network and positioning capabilities and a large backup battery, ensuring uninterrupted visibility and connectivity even without external power. The wide-voltage support (8–90 V DC) makes it highly versatile and compatible with electrical equipment, adds Queclink, while the 5800 mAh battery allows for extended operation of up to four months in the event of power loss.
The LTE Cat-M1 device enables more consistent global coverage and dual-band GNSS ensures enhanced location accuracy, while an optional external antenna is available for installation under the asset, on the trailer wall or inside where there is weak or no signal. The tracker also includes multiple interfaces to support a variety of pre-integrated accessories and BLE 5.2 connectivity for effective wireless sensor pairing.
“We are using our longstanding expertise to bring to market high-performing and specialised hardware that is suited to complex telematics solutions,” added Vernon Bonser.
“By developing these advanced technology solutions, such as the GV650MG, we are enabling deeper integration and data access for vehicle operators in a wide mix of transport-related sectors.”
