CheckedSafe puts vehicle compliance inspections in the spotlight
When people talk about vehicle inspections, it often brings to mind MOTs, scheduled maintenance or the sort of inspection a vehicle might receive during a DVSA roadside check, says compliance platform CheckedSafe.
“But in reality, good vehicle compliance starts much earlier than that,” said the company.
“Every day, before a vehicle heads out onto the road, there is an opportunity to spot something, even if it is a minor issue that could become a much bigger problem further down the line. A damaged tyre, faulty light, worn brake component or unsecured load might seem like a small issue at first, but catching it before a journey can make a significant difference.
“That is why daily walkaround checks are such an important part of running a safe and compliant fleet. They put drivers at the front of the process, giving them a chance to report anything that does not look or feel right before the vehicle leaves the depot.”
The challenge for operators, says CheckedSafe, is making sure those checks are actually completed, recorded and followed up.
“Paper forms can be difficult to keep track of, particularly when you are managing a large or dispersed fleet. This is where digital vehicle checks can help.”
The company’s Vehicle Compliance Solution allows drivers to complete checks from their phone, report defects immediately and gives managers a clear view of what is happening across the fleet, for a small per vehicle, per week charge.
“It is not about adding another layer of administration. It is about making something that already needs to happen every day simpler, more visible and easier to manage.”
The company is set to gather industry experts, DVSA representatives and transport professionals in Burnley on Thursday 19 November, for the CheckedSafe Transport Compliance Seminar 2026, a free day of compliance insight and networking.
“The event provides an excellent opportunity for those in the transport sector to stay up to date on the industry’s ever-changing regulations and compliance requirements,” said CheckedSafe.
Attendees at this free seminar will get the chance to hear from numerous industry experts talking on a range of topics, including: insight into what DVSA examiners actually look for; the importance of load safety and the real-life consequences of non-compliance; a deep dive into the legal position of driving licence checking; and additional compliance and best practice updates.
Guest speakers will include DVSA’s Aidan McCabe and Steve Lyon; load safety ambassador Maria Dennis; transport solicitor Laura Newton; Steve Moffatt, the lead road vehicle compliance manager for Network Rail; and Mike Higgins from National Highways.
Attendees will also be treated to a free lunch and refreshments, as well as the chance to take part in some interactive quizzes with prizes up for grabs.
The seminar runs from 9.30am to 3.30pm and will be held at Impact Conferencing, located at Life Church Lancashire in Burnley, just off Junction 10 of the M65.
“There are a lot of changes, regulations and responsibilities for people in transport to keep on top of, and it can be difficult to know whether you’re doing everything you should be,” said CheckedSafe co-founder Darran Harris.
“That’s really what TCS ‘26 is about, bringing the industry together, hearing from industry experts and hopefully giving everyone a few things they can take away and put into practice. And, of course, we want everyone to enjoy themselves along the way, even if compliance is traditionally a dry subject.”
Tickets for the event are now available from the CheckedSafe Eventbrite page (https://checkedsafetcs26.eventbrite.co.uk). Around 250 delegates are expected to attend, so early registration is encouraged to avoid disappointment.
